I am looking to migrate our 2003 terminal server License server to a 2008 R2 License server but I am having trouble find out what the best practices are before doing the migration. I know the 2008 server can issue 2003 licenses and we have to move them thru the clearinghouse and such but I am wondering where is the best place to host the server? Should the server be a standalone server or a Domain controller? Can we run other services such as KMS, priont services, etc on this server? I have read several articles but have not really found much suggesting what to do.
To add difficulty, we will be upgrading our 2003 Terminal servers to 2008 at some point. We are not sure if we are going to do VDI, AppV, etc..
Any pointer in the right direction for best practices and hosting, etc. would be very helpful
