Remote Desktop Services in a 2-node NLB cluster and run GP2015 as RemoteApp

Dear All,

I am trying to configure a MS Dynamics GP 2015 server infra. I got 2-node (Win2012 R2) failover cluster where SQL Server 2012 is installed and 2-node network load balancing cluster (Win2012 R2) where GP 2015 is installed. Things are working fine so far. Few remote users, who use fat client of GP2015, loses session time to time, which causes issue on some transactions.

Now, I am trying to configure Remote Desktop Services in the 2-node NLB cluster so users can use GP2015 as RemoteApp. What's the best way to configure RD Service in this scenario with following conditions.

  • Only the above 2-node NLB cluster is available for RD Services. That means, no extra server is available.
  • Users who loses a RD session, should be able to reconnect their session regardless of what node NLB cluster forwards new connection. (I read Broker service does that)
  • I just want users to have access to GP2015 as a RemoteApp instead of giving whole desktop through Remote Session (If this is possible)

I saw lot of tutorials online and I am a bit confused as none are using exact scenario I am having. So, I need advice from experts here.

Thank you all,
Abdul Gafoor
