"Your autocorrect file MSO3081.acl could not be save. The file may be read only, or you may not have permission to modify the file"

The problems we have is intermittent. Sometimes when a user is in a Remote Desktop session they get the following error when opening Word or Outlook 2007 SP3

"Your autocorrect file MSO3081.acl could not be save. The file may be read only, or you may not have permission to modify the file"

We also get a similar error message about the file FRMCACHE.DAT

Searching the net this seems to be a common issue on Desktops

The only fix the I’ve found on the net is to go into the users profile and delete the file. This will then allow you to start Word/Outlook  This temporary work around is fine for a Desktop - but is not practical on a RD Server as the user and Service Desk staff don’t have access to the local C drive on the server.

Our only work around is to get the user to log off, then have the Service Desk delete the offending file from their TSProfile and then the user to log back in

This is a major inconvenience and we really need a permanent fix for this issue

I just had another user experience this issue

As i have server admin rights I logged onto the server and renamed the file in the local server profile - got them to open Word and it recreated the MSO3081.acl file and they could then use Outlook and Word

I attempted to copy the new .acl and the old .acl file to my machine to examine with a hexeditor to find the difference in the files, as they both have the same user rights and they are not set to read only.

I could copy the newly created file, but when attempting to copy the old renamed offending file i got the following error message
"An unexpected error is keeping you from copying this file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem"

Error 0x80070780

This error explains why Word and Outlook are having issues, but does not explain why this file is locked and why it stops it being copied or read

A search of this error message gives no answers

This issue is happening on all 7   2008 R2 Servers

Thanks

Will
