I have an RDS license server that the RDS servers will connect to, and then they lose connection. I also have event id 4 on the RDS servers so I suspect that the License server’s domain password needs to be reset.
I tried to do so using netdom resetpwd, but it failed and research has indicated this is really intended for DC’s not member servers (even though I’ve read it should work for member servers). In any case it did not.
Therefore, my only recourse appears to be to unjoin/rejoin the license server to the domain.
To add to the complexity of this issue, we do not have the license key for the RDS licenses that are currently installed on the server. That means if I lose those licenses when I pull the server out of the domain, I am SOL because we can’t afford to re-buy them. It's great to inherit problems.
My question is what happens to those installed/activated licenses if I remove/re-add the server to the domain?
