We have a remote desktop 2008 R2 farm. We have an application that we host on the farm which we can also access locally. When users access the application remotely using RDP client they complain that it is slower than the local access. We have increased the bandwidth for the remote access, the RDP servers are have plenty of RAM, processing power and network access(10GB NIC) to the database server. However clicking between windows is not the same as on the local lan like there is some latency or something affecting it. We have 30-40 RDP connections going across a 50MB fiber link. What else can we do to increase the performance?
There are three servers in the farm. Each has 64GB of RAM, 10GB NIC and dual-quad core CPU. We do notice that connecting via Remote gateway web interface for RDP seems to perform better than the RDP client sessions over the fiber.
