Users and groups dissappearing from remote desktop users group after reboot

Hi,

I recently had a Windows 2012 server standalone on a workgroup. I took a server backup, stripped the server down installed the hyper-v role and restored the backup into a virtual machine to be used as terminal server and the base sever as the domain controller.

To change the SID of the restored server now as the guest I run sysprep but this failed at the last stage with a fatal error, but did change the SID and I was able then to join the terminal server to the domain and all appeared to be working ok.

But.. After creating a group of users that was added to the remote desktop users security group on the terminal server, on a reboot of the terminal server guest that group dissappears! and noone can login to the terminal server. So I go back to add the group in again and it says the group is already added but its not in the list, so I rename the group on the domain controller to say rdpusers2 and I can then add it in again.. but then when I reboot again its gone again and I now cannot add the group rdpusers or rdpusers2 it says its there, so i need to rename again to rdpusers3 and so on.

Any help appreciated its got me stumped.

Cheers
