No remote Desktop Licence Server available on RD Session Host server 2012

Error:

Configuration:

We have few servers on WORKGROUP however i have made single server as RDS License server and on rest all servers did below configuration

<style type="text/css"><!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}--></style>Local group policy on each server
Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Licensing

"Use the specified RD license servers" = myservername

"Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode" = Per User

Solution that i always apply to fix this by removing the REG Key and reboot the server

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM\GracePeriod

We have all the licenses and configuration in place still why we get the error after every 180 days..... What needs to do to avoid this

Hi,

I'm setting up a RDS 2016 environment. I have configured the webaccess role on the gateway server. The gateway server is in a DMZ.

Do i also need a webaccess server available inside the network, besides the one in the DMZ?

RDP CALs not being assigned even though available

hi,

our company network is using Windows 2016 Standard to serve Remote Desktop Sessions:

We've installed 1000 RDS Licenses and everything is working fine, except the License Manager. We have more than 200 devices connecting to the RDS servers, but the license manager has only 3 temporary and 16 static licenses assigned. I'm affraid that one day most of our clients will just stop working.

I can't see anything important in Event Log, and license diagnoser shows everything is ok - it's showing I have 1000 licenses overall and 984 free.

We are using Thin client  Systems.

why its happen? can somebody give the solution on this.

snap attached for your information.

Data missing from RD users profile folder

Hello. I am using Server 2012. We have a user who logged into one of our RD farms and all of her data like exel files and .doc's are missing from her desktop however her system and program icons are still there. I checked her Desktop folder under her User profile folder and nothing is there. When logging in she gets a message that the 'Roaming user profile was not completely synchronized and to check the event viewer'. She also gets the same message when logging off. Any ideas how to get her profile to synch correctly and retrieve her data?

Hi,

After update on client station are RemoteAPP slower, and  right mouse button is unresponsive, or react verly long time...

It is a big problem for us.

PS: after replace mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll from older version Windows 10 is all OK. but this is not a solution.

Thanks.

I have some users that should only login from certain IP addresses but others have free access. We're using RDS HTML5 webclient and the client connections are not from domain joined machines.

RDS - RemoteApp and Desktop connection does not exist

Hi,

We are running an RDS infrastructure, based on several collections, containing a mix of WS2012R2 and WS2016 session hosts. There is no mix of Windows Server editions in the same collection.

A single multi-roled GW,CB,WebAccess server, is providing remote access to all the collections.

The users connect to the enviroment by Work Ressources and default RDP.

We recently starting facing an issue, where several clients can connect to the Work Ressources - while connecting to the session host by RDP through the GW, works perfectly as usual.

When the clients connect to the published Work Ressources, the connection is immediately dropped - it actually dosent seem, to actually trying to connect, since the error comes immediately after login in.

The following error is logged in the event viewer:

General :"Remote application (Remote Application Name) is launched on RemoteApp and Desktop connection (rdgw.domain.local) but no stored credentials are used for single sign on. (Reason - RemoteApp and Desktop connection does not exist)"

Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-RemoteApp- and Desktop Connections/Operational

Event ID: 1041

We have traced the logfiles at the GW server, and the client dosent appear anywhere - other clients appears just fine.

We have done the following, in order to find the root cause:

Removed all the Work Ressources at the client side, and successfully connected added the Work Ressources again.

Still cant open up any of the Work Ressources.

Moved the users facing the issue to a new computer, and successfully opened the Work Ressources.

Meaning the problem is limited to the Client Operating System.

Removed the Cached Credentials in the Control Panel & in Stored Credentials (rundll32 keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr)

We are fairly sure that the problem is due to SSO, but havent been able to find a solution, how to "reset" Work Ressources for an entire machine.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Maintenance mode on RDS collection

Hi All,

Just wanted to check with you all on is there a possibility to provide a maintenance window on RemoteApp collection level.

We have Production collection and Test Collection in an event we need to take down the production collection. For this purpose, we send emails to our client saying that that environment will not be available. Is there a way that we can let them know when they launch the RemoteApp?

We have 400+ end users that we need to notify when there is a maintenance window.

BTW we have Window server 2012 R2 for all RDS servers.

I really appreciate your help.

Remote Assistance to a workgroup computer

Hello Microsoft Community,

We are deploying a fleet of HP t630 Thin Clients into our environment. These machines are running Windows 10 and will not be joined to the domain (just workgroup with two local users an admin one and a user one with the user one logging in automatically.) Since these are thin clients we do not want them to be domain joined. Our help desk is already using the Microsoft Remote Assistance product to remotely offer assistance to regular desktop users. We would like to come up with a way to also connect to these thin clients. Any idea how that can be done? Remote Assistance seems to only work when connecting to a domain joined computer. Thank You!

RDP to windows 10 try to use local printer set as default but it's trying to use last printing device used on remote host to print.

RDP to Win10 pro system 1803 from a windows 1803 with a printer attached>  Select the redirected printer, in this case a Zebra GC420d thermal > print a test page...works fine. >  Set it as default printer > try to print anything.

What seems to be happening is any device on the remote system that was last used to print on the remote system is what it tries to print to ;HP printer, onenote, PDF printer. even though the redirected local host printer is set as the default

It was working fine before updating the remote system to 10.

1. RDS connection is very slow. Application takes long time to load up.

2. CPU usage on RDS server shows 100 %.

Any help will be appreciated..

Until yesterday everything worked fine. Now the Remote Desktop displays the two screen shots of the 2 computers I am trying to connect to. However, when I click on the images the second window opens with an all orange screen and then both windows crash in a few seconds.
My desktop is running Win10 pro Version 1803, build 17134.590
The main server I am trying to connect to is Win Server Essentials 2016, Version 1607, build 14393.2724
The other computer I am trying to connect is a Win7 Pro, version 6.1, build 7601, with Service Pack 1.
All of the computers are up to date with their Windows updates. They have all been restarted.
I checked the services and all of the automatic ones are running.

RDS Farm - Best Practice for Loadbalanceing

Hi,

Can anyone answer the question which variant for the load balancing at  RDS farms is the best practice option.

DNS round robin between all session hosts or no DNS round robin and the connection only goes to the connection broker.

The connection can not proceed because authentication is not enabled and remote desktop requires that authentication to be enabled

Hi,

I have Active directory domain with more than 200 windows server 2008 r2 and 400 windows 7 consoles joined to it.

I have made some changes in remote desktop security settings via group policy suggested by the security auditor.

The changes are:

1. Set client connection encryption level- High

2. Require use of specific security layer for remote (RDP) connections- SSL (TLS 1.0)

My all the Servers/Workstations are working fine after applying these settings, but in 1 Server i am getting this error "The connection can not proceed because authentication is not enabled and remote desktop requires that authentication to be enabled" when the policy is applied.

This particular server is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 VM Guest machine hosted in VMWare 6.0.0 Host. I have 50 more servers with same configuration as problematic one.

Can anyone help me resolve the issue, why the error is coming in that specific server and not in all other 199 servers.

I tried some troubleshooting steps suggested for the particular error:

1. Open regedit.msc and change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp "set“SecurityLayer” to a zero.

2. I joined the server again to domain to refresh the configuration.

But nothing worked.
