Printing Issue with Remote Desktop
Issue with RDP client on Windows 10
Event 1309 ASP.NET
Hello,
We have a Windows Server 2016 box that is being used for users to remote in to their computers by way of RDWeb. Every time someone goes to the website to login we we get the following Warning logged in events:

Any ideas how to fix?
Server 2012 suddenly stops creating RDP redirection for printers and drives
IP virtualization problem: ping using host IP
User's logon to TS normally, ipconfig says it gets virtual ip. dhcp logs say's it to, but:
Attempting to ping an external address causes the packets to go from host's ip address, not client virtualized ip's.
Same time ie connecting to proxy from virtualized ip's. After a day or so, ie also begins to send packets from the host address.
Windows 2016 - Users rights at root file system
Hi,
I just discovered that regular users have "special" permission at the root. They are granted rights to create folders.
Is it just me and my servers ?
Migrating a Session Host to a different RDS deployment
Hi guys,
Currently we have two RDS deployments, which we use for RemoteApp purposes 1 deployment consists of:
- 1 single server with RD web, RDCB and Session Host role. (this was configured long time ago)
Other deployment is:
- HA deployment with 2 web, 2 rdbc, 6 session host and 2 licensing servers. No RD gateways involved.
I want to migrate the single RDS server to our HA deployment. So the connectionbroker and Web Acces roles will become obsolete.
Is there a specific way to do this? Or do I need to delete all roles, and add the server from the other deployment as a session host? (apart from all the firewall rules ofc)
Thanks!
RD Gateway - Unable to connect via IP (Netbios, FQDN work fine)
I've set up an RD Gateway that connects to a number of internal servers. Everything is working fine if I connect to a server (via RD Gateway) using either the Netbios name or the FQDN, however if I try to connect using the servers IP address I get the following error:-
Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer "10.XXX.XXX.XXX" for one of these reasons:
1) Your user account is not listed in the RD Gateway's permission list
2) You might have specified the remote computer in NetBIOS format (for example, computer1), but the RD Gateway is expecting an FQDN or IP address format (for example, computer1.fabrikam.com or 157.60.0.1).
Is there some configuration step I've missed on the RD Gateway to allow IP address connections?
Is there a log file for RDP connections?
Hello,
I need to know WHO (IP Address) and WHEN accessed my computer (with remote desktop). is there any log file ? (Windows 7)

Local user connected through Remote Gateway Server
Hello Everyone,
I recently took over our Remote Desktop Services and am trying to familiarize myself with it. I am noticing that some of our users while on the local network connect through the gateway server. I noticed some of them are Mac users and use the MS RDP client to connect to Remote Desktop Services. I realized that the latest update of the client forces users to go through the gateway no matter if they are on the local network or at home. Where the RDP client before the latest update didn't do that.
Also, I have a few windows users going through the remote gateway server when they are on the local network. I am not able to explain why that is happening. If someone could help me understand that it will be greatly appreciated.
Third I have noticed after the last windows updates the shift key when opening an Acess database is no longer working when using Remote Desktop. Is there a workaround for opening the Access database using the shift key?
Thank you,
Vince
Windows Server 2016 - RD Connection Broker - Failed to install because one or more parent service not installed or disabled
Hi All,
I've been trying for the past couple of days to deploy Remote Desktop Services to newly built 2016 Server (member server not DC). It just fails repeatedly when trying to install the connection broker role.
I've completed the windows updates (although that was dramatic in itself!) and then turned my attention to installing RDS services, tried Role based and remote desktop services type deployments, but on both it just fails and gives a useless and generic error message:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Installation of one or more roles, role services, or features failed.
One or several parent features are disabled so current feature can not be enabled. Error: 0xc004000d
----------------------------------------------------------------
I've tried the following:
Change the Windows Internal Database service to administrator, or network service, or local system. (didn't work)
Moved server to separate container and disabled GPO inheritance incase it's a group policy setting issue.
Tried installing connection broker role via powershell.
Changed local security policy to make sure log on as service right is set for NT Service\All services, domain admins and network service.
SFC scan and DSIM repair image.
I can't figure out which service is possibly required to install this role which I haven't already enabled.
CBS logs don't provide much insight into why this has failed unfortunately.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Billy
RDS licenses ( 2019 CALS) are not getting issued
I am experiencing a weird problem on my windows 2016 server.
I have only one server ( win 2016 datacenter) deployed on azure where in I have configured RDSH, RDCB, license and webaccess role. Till now I was running on 120 days trial period of license. Now I have purchased 15 win server 2019 CALS and installed the same. The problem here is, even though I have installed the CALS the server is not allowing me to connect more than 2 users and it throws an error " there are too many users signed in. Select a user to disconnect".
Licensing diagnoser displays no error. I can see green tick mark which says " RD Licensing diagnoser did not identify anylicensing problem for Remote desktop session host server".
RD licensing manager says "Total licenses =15 ", " Available licenses =15". " Issued = 0" . Here no licenses are getting issued even though it has enough to distribute to the users.
I have tried all possible ways to fix this but no luck. Below are the few troubleshooting steps performed.
- Applied group policy settings - Computer configuration - Administrative templates - windows components - remotes desktop services - remote desktop session host - licensing - use specified licensing server ( updated the FQDN name of the licensing server )
- Computer configuration - Administrative templates - windows components - remotes desktop services - remote desktop session host - licensing - set the remote desktop licensing mode ( set per user license)
- Computer configuration - Administrative templates - windows components - remotes desktop services - remote desktop session host - connections - Limit number of connections ( set to 99999)
- Gpupdate /force
- But no luck. Hence I uninstalled the licensing role and re-configured from the scratch. But still the same issue.
Any suggestions to resolve my issue would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

RDS Users disconnect after a few minutes from a single subnet. session 14 has been disconnected, reason code 0 and code 5
Hello,
Users from a single location are experiencing major issues connecting to our RDS server. There are 3 locations, one main site where the server is location on the same subnet, another site south, and another site to the east. The south and east sites are connected with a VPN connection. Only users at the east site are not able to connect well to the server. I can check event viewer logs and I once saw something with winlogon stopping but I always see the error "session 14 has been disconnected, reason code 0" and "session 14 has been disconnected, reason code 5" from the east site subnet. I did a netstat to see that users are connecting with TCP 3389. An RD Gateway is not configured. I can connect to the RDS server for hours and have no problems. Error code 0 means No additional info is available and 5 means client's connection was replaced by another connection. I am not sure what would be doing this.
I was thinking like some kind of time but I sent all of the timeout settings on the server to never. I thought maybe it was a UDP socket timeout that was acting weird over that single connection but with netstat -a | findstr ":3389" I only see TCP ESTABLISHED sessions and only listening on UDP 3389.
Update KB3000850 is installed which replaced KB2984006 update for windows server 2012 R2 that fixes RDS issues like this. Clients are Windows 10.
Any help would be appreciated.
Windows Server 2012 R2 as either a Domain Controller and a Remote desktop Server
I need to configure a Windows Server 2012 R2 server as either a Domain Controller and a Remote desktop Server.
I know that the solution is deprecated and I remember that it was not possible on Windows Server 2012 before R2.
I read that Windows Server 2012 R2 allows configuring a single server with both roles, plus Remote Desktop Licensing.
Giver that there is no alternate solution, is there anything I should do in order to minimize possible problems?
Is there any guide I can use to perform the installation in the best way?

Remotefx USB redirection not working?
Hi
I've been messing around with trying to get remotefx usb redirection to work, at the moment i just need a mouse to work through it.
my setup:
Host: Running Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit, it have a connected monitor, mouse and keyboard.
Client: Running Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit, not much else to say about this.
I've setup the needed group policies for this to work on both ends.
When i connect from the client to the host, and i select my 2nd mouse to be redirected, in the remote desktop program, the mouse gets detected and installed, and i can even find it on the device manager on the host, but i the cursor is not moving at all, no responds from the right or left click either, still it gets detected.
I can setup my phone to be redirected, but not the mouse, it simply doesnt work.
Is there any solution to this problem?
Block network access from terminal
Hey everyone!
Need help. I have a terminal server in AD. The terminal server is public with few remote apps for 5 accountants. Installed Remote Apps connect to another server with MySQL databases in my local network and he is not public. I want to block network access from the public terminal to the local network with the exception of the SQL server. That 5 accountants should not have access to my network at all. Via GPO I blocked cmd, powershell, and iexplorer. In RemoteApp settings, I left only the clipboard and printer mapping. Any advice for resolving my idea?
Thanks for help
Access to Remote Machine
From my desktop machine, I can IP Resolve Host A, ping it and even access its default share i.e. c$.
However, from a particular server 2012, I can IP resolve, but cannot ping or access share, even after turning of firewall off.
What am I missing?

How many virtual cpu cores are required? Is there any documentation or guidelines on this ?
