I have implemented RDS Web Access. Running the web page via localhost, when I try to change the password the reply is:
Your new password does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirements of your domain. Try choosing a different new password."
This happens no matter what password I create and try.
This is not a domain controller, it is just a Windows Server 2016 I am testing this on.

Do I need a license if I am using RDS Web Interface for changing Domain passwords only? The server will not be hosting anything except for the ability for users to change their domain passwords when they expire.

for past months , every time we created a new PC we added some users in the Remote desktop users ( including user himself ) , now we have a new security policy that avoid the user to be in RDU list , how can i remove the users and keep others through GP ? i know how to add , but remove its not work for me.
in simple word i need to create policy , and put name in it , then deploy that policy to over wright the current names.

Which will release the license usage after user logoff the terminal server or how can we release the old user RDS CAL?
Could it release the RDS session when the user log off the Terminal Server?

We have 8 RDS, One Broker, Windows 2016 Std., on a Farm.
We have GPO's Policies on those servers.
From Time to Time, some users are experiencing task bar freezing.
The desktop icons are working, but the task bar is freezing and you can not do nothing on the Task Bar.
The only way is to log off and log in again.
It there a solution ?

I have an issue with old Windows CE devices connecting to an new Windows 2016 terminal server. The old CE devices use the older login where you get connected to the server and then authenticate, as opposed to RDP 6, where is prompts you for credentials.
The CE devices are only 240x320 touchscreens (Old Motorola MC9090 RF guns), so what happens on the display is the username and password field are cut off, and users have a difficult time selecting these fields.
Previous Windows 2008, the login screen had a different orientation, so it was more user friendly for those devices. Any one have any ideas if its possible to rearrange the screen or change resolution on just this screen?
I have tried just about everything and would really be disappointed to have to revert back to 2008 R2, just because of a login screen. Updating or getting new devices are not possible at this time.

I have a virtualised (VMWare) RDS 2012R2 environment with 20 Session hosts spread across 6 Dell ESXI Hosts - 2 Sets of different PowerEdge Models. Over the past 4-6 weeks we have started to get multiple event 7011's followed by a 7046.
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.
The following service has repeatedly stopped responding to service control requests: Remote Desktop Services UserMode Port Redirector
At this point some existing connected users cant sign out and applications start to crash including explorer.exe. Trying to shutdown via the GUI just hangs and the only way to get the server back is to reset the power using vSphere console.
Applications on the Session Hosts are mainly MS Office 2016, Acrobat Reader, 7Zip and Webroot AV. Windows OS and applications are fully patched and up to date and Dell Firmware and drivers are fully up to date.
Users connect in via RemoteApp and local drives and printers are redirected into their sessions.
The weird thing is, like clockwork the crashes happen at the end of each day usually between 16:00 - 18:00 - To me its like a degradation symptom or perhaps its the actions of users disconnecting or logging off their session - Its affecting a couple of servers each day.
On top of this, it appears 7011, 7046 results in a BSOD. I have grabbed the Memory.dmp file and opened it with WinDbg.
Im now trying to figure out the dmp - uploaded to PasteBin here (happy to paste dmp here but didnt want to "dump" to much information in the post)
What stands out to me is rdbss.sys
Probably caused by : rdbss.sys ( rdbss!__RxAcquireFcb+1f3 )

I could not find any documentation for the recommended approaches for hosting RD Gateway & Web access in HA mode..By this i mean MS docs show both the roles running on same servers but not if we want to run these two roles on separATE boxes,,,..Is there any issue or limitation if we seggregate both the roles on different servers i.e make HA pair of RD Gateway and separate HA pair of RD Web servers..Are there any specific issues running on separate HA pairs..Are there any specific guidelines to follow if we keep them on separate boxes..
If we seprate out roles of RD Gw and RD web,do we still need to publish both the servers on internet..

I am dealing with weird issue on my Windows Server 2012 R2 server. Server is used as DC and RDS server.
Everything was working fine until Friday where I saw this problem first time.
Users reported that they are unable to log on to RDP - they see black screen only. User with active RDP connection are able to work but unable to log off from RDP. In server console I see that RDS is not working properly. I am able to restart all RDS services except this one - UmRdpService.
And there are some errors in event viewer.
13:05:13 Source - System, Service control manager - event ID 7011 - service UmRdpService timeout.
And then another:
The same source and event id but service is different - hidserv, Netman, ScDeviceEnum, transaction SysMain
and the last one - event id 7046 - UmRdpService
There is another error in app event viewer.
13:00:13 - App - Application Hang - event id 1002 - program StwPh.exe verze 5.1.12103.2 stopped cooperate with OS
I would say that problem is caused by app - STWPh.exe.

I'm new to the Win2016 RDS setup, so bare with me.
From what I've read I need a Connection Broker, Web, Session Host, Gateway and License server to make all this work.
However all I'm looking for is to setup 4 x 2016 Servers to allow more than 2 concurrent RDP sessions. Would I be able to just setup the 4 x 2016 Servers and 1 more server as a License server? Then point those 4 servers at the 1 license server?
Do I HAVE to setup a GateWay, Connection Broker, and Web RDS server? I have no interest in publishing apps to a webpage, and no connections coming in from the outside world. I just want to bump up the concurrent connections on the 4 "app" servers. Basically kinda like it was in Win2008.

New SErver 2016 RDS Farm. Attempting to use Internet Explorer (11 - fully patched) to access http://farmid_url/rdweb
IE states that Cookies are Disabled.
Cookies are NOT disabled. I have also reset to default, emptied all history, etc.
Any Suggestions?
I am trying to connect to a remote computer that is Azure AD joined. Both the client and host computer are running Windows 10 version 1809. Currently I am connecting without NLA to be able to authentication myself, but I would like to connect with NLA.
According to this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/client-management/connect-to-remote-aadj-pc this should be possible, providing you use the username format "AzureAD\JeroenDeWit" to connect. However, this results in an error stating "Your credential did not work. Remote machine is AAD joined. If you are signing in to you work account, try using your work email address." I can't post a screenshot because my account is not verified yet.
Other guides like https://cloudbuilder.io/documentation/Windows10Pro-RDP-AzureADJoined/ also suggest authenticating without NLA.
Am I doing something wrong or is Microsoft doing something wrong? :)

When creating the VDI collection, I found that template VMs connected to vSwitches with dynamic IP allocation were created normally. However, the collection failed with vm configured to use a vSwitch that must be granted a fixed IP. At this time, an error message occurred that the domain could not be contacted. Are the errors that I checked correct when creating vdi collections in Hyper-V environments? Can't I create a collection with template vm that can't be assigned a dynamic ip? What if there is way to create VDI collection, What am I missing for this?
2) I have installed 2 GPU on to the physical machine for VDI with remoteFX. Both are twin and its memory is 64GB. So 128GB is available. I want to assign memory that I want to VMs dedicately. Is this possible? If yes, powershell? Please tell me how to do this.
3) If possible, I want to fix which of the two GPUs the VM will use. Possible? if yes, let me know how to. ;) As far as I have read of someone's article, it's not possible, but I am still qurious with this issue.

One Hyper-V virtual host with RD Web Access, RD Connection Broker?
How do you make up your case? In the actual operating environment, the RD Web Access Role machine is located in the DMZ section, and the connection broker is thought to be the structure that connects the external-internal network, so can we do that?
Then, I think it's okay to configure Web Access and Connection Broker Role together on a physical server in the DMZ section.
How about using RemoteFX after connecting through the VPN section in front of us without a separate DMZ section?

Hi, after install the webclient and bind certificate to port 3392, I get this error message.
WebSocket connection to 'wss://dc.redecr.intranet:3392/rdp' failed: Error in connection establishment: net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
There is no firewall between the client and the server, the port 3392 is open on RDS Server 2016.
Any ideas?

Hi All,
I have a number of VDI collections in my RDS 2016 deployment, personal desktops each with some base applications and obviously at a specific patch level (eg 1803).
Has anyone established a process to update the personal VD template image (updated apps/new Windows10 patch level) for existing collections?
WSUS will eventually take care of the patch level, but ideally I'd like to keep the template current.

Using Windows 10 In RDSClient, RDSServer is 2012 r2 machine.
In the RDS, When i login in RDS, Redirected printer is appeared in the printer list, but it is not sending print docs to local printer(fails to printing).
But the same printer, printing on shared form.
Using Epson LQ 310 Dot matrix Printer, Printer was automatically installed printer by windows 10. so Driver must be compatible to windows 10 64 bit.
Redirected Printer is working on other client windows versions.
What may be problem..?,

Just one server is showing this behavior and with all the users.
