RDS 2012 R2 Gateway two RD SH collection not authorize for application

I have following setup :

I have following setup :

One RDS GW server based on windows 2012 R2

Two RDS CB (HE) and  two  RDS WEB servers  ( NLB).

I have  two RDS SH collections  Exchange  has two distinguished application published..  RD WEB applications are publish, and setup to be available through RD GW.

Let Say following applications are published through RD WEB :

Application Notepad :  Available on both RD SH collections.

Application Calc :  Available on both RD SH collections.

Application A :available only on  RD SH A Collection.

Application B : available only on RD SH B Collection.

Situation is following :

I access RD Web portal remotely. I can not use direct RDP protocol.  I open application on RDWeb  like Notepad  on   RD  SH A collection.  The I  open  another application calc published  on RD SH B collection, but it open it on RD SH A collection. But I have explicitly  click on  CACL published on RD SH B.

Now if I try to open application B, it will not open it, and it will say that I’m not authorized.

We can revers process and try cith application on  RD SH collection B; and  I will not be able to open application exclusively published on   RD SH Collection A.

But if I save RDP file,  and  modify that connection string, that does not use Connection broker and connect directly to RD SH server through GW, it work.

RDS VDI Certificate Mismatch

Hi,

I have a 2012 R2 RDS farm deployed and users are able to log onto the personal desktops successfully.  However, when the user launches the VDI from RDWEB, they receive a certificate mismatch.  The certificate being presented is self signed from the VDI.

Is this normal behaviour for the VDI connection? Or am I missing something here?

RemoteApp Session freeze and disconnected. Event Log shows "Session has been disconnected, reason code 0."

Hi,

We have a Remote Desktop Service environment hosted in Azure Virtual Machines, the environment consists of 3 servers - a domain controller, a Remote desktop session host and a RD web gateway.

We are having issues when users access to published remote app via web gateway, the session will be disconnected randomly if you leave the remote app idle for a little while.  The disconnections happens very frequent, users can get disconnected for every 2 to 3 minutes.  Event log under TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager is showing event ID 40 - Session has been disconnected, reason code 0.

I have done the following however problem still exists:

1.Enable Keep Session alive settings.

2. Disable RDP-timed out.

3. Trusted SSL certificate from authority

4. Disable IPV6

Some analysis i found out:

1. Disconnection only happens to RemoteApp, while RDP session directly to Remote Desktop Session Host is always alive.

2. When multiple users access to RemoteApp concurrently, they get disconnected, but not at the same time.

3. I have continuous ping from Remote Desktop Session Host to Web Gateway server and the packet didnt drops.

Been cracking my head many days to troubleshoot this issues, I hope the experts here can help me.  Thanks!!

Regards,

Lih Ping

Query regards Session Host and Connection Broker Farms?

$

Hi All

Im in the process of planning an RDS 2012 R2 deployment, but am fairly new to some of the more recent architecture features.  I have a couple of querys. Im planning for a Connection Broker HA via DNS Round Robin (although I know MLB is better, but for now looking for answers for this scenario\approach).  There will also be a 2 or more Session Host Servers behind the CB HA.

1. firstly, is it also necessary to create a separate Session Host Farm (along with its own DNS RR config)?  We may create a separate Session Host Farm in the future for other requirements \ reasons, and as I understand it currently, a Connection Broker HA can service multiple Session Host Farms?

2. Secondly the Web Access role will be installed on both Connection Brokers.  Is it necessary to also create distinct DNS RR entry's for these also (to allow for load balancing of the IE web site traffic)?

Any thoughts \ assistance much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Andrew

Servers are going out of domain and would not allow logon using Mstsc/RDP/Console for Domain Administrators (Domain users)

Dear MS Team

This is serious issue going on in my Server environment (we have about 6000 Windows Server 2003 OS with SP2 ) for quiet some time now and nothing seem to resolve this

Frequently some of servers are going out of domain and would not allow logon using Mstsc/RDP/Console for Domain Administrators (Domain users).

NOTE: Local Admin account logs on without any issue (Through RDP or Console)

It throws the following error

"The system cannot log you on now because the domain <DOMAIN_NAME> is not available."

And if we try to login again then we get the following error

“The system cannot log you on due to the error not enough storage is available to process this command”

How to configure ARR to Reverse Proxy to RD Gateway

$

We have an ARR server in the DMZ working fine providing reverse proxy for our internal Exchange Server 2013 environment and I've tried to create rules to allow access to the internal RD Gateway as well but when testing from an external client it never connects.

Does anyone have any configuration notes for how ARR should be configured to allow reverse proxy of RD Gateway?

Cheers for now

User Groups on rdsh

Hi

I have a Domain with several child domains. On my rds setup, I have a rdgw, a rdcb and 4 rdsh. I would like now to allow a Group from one child domain to an rdsh. So I created a group on the top level domain (RD All Access) and added all groups from the child domains. On the RAP and CAP I allow all Users from this group. That seems to work fine.

On the RD Setup for the session hosts, I would like to allow only the group from the child domain. So I change the location to the child domain and search the group. When I click OK, I get an error:

On the domain trust I can validate the trust and get it confirmed:

The trust has been validated. It is in place and active.

So how can I add a usergroup from a child domain to a dedicated rdsh?

Thanks.

Best Regards, Daniel

Server 2012 R2 VDI with profile disks not using domain default profile

I'm testing a VDI environment running on Windows Server 2012 R2. The VMs in the pool are running Windows 7.

I've enabled profile disks for my test pool. I also have a domain default profile (stored under netlogon) that is used when creating profiles for new users.

I've found that when a new user logs into the VDI pool, the domain default user profile is not being used to create the new profile. Can this be changed?

Windows 2008 R2 connection broker

I have a problem related to the fact that remote desktop client are not redirected to the disconnected sessionr when they try to reconnect.

I'm using a netscaler load balancer that uses redirection toker with the connection broker server.

I have made a small configuration test environment that reflect my origina configuration and the problem will exist event there.

All the servers are windows 2008 R2 with sp1 and all latest fix available using microsoft update.

The connection broker server is a domain controller server, and the terminal server are computer member of the domain. All the information are correctl registered by the connection broker database, but is seems that it works only with administative users.

The error that is reported

RD Connection Broker failed to process the connection request for user DOMAIN\USER.Load Balancing failed OR Specified endpoint could not be found.HRESULT = 0x80070515.

I have found no information about the error 0x80070515.

Here follow the connection broker information after

How to set up remote desktop licensing mode in windows server 2012

$

Hi,

I've deployed yesterday a windows 2012 server (RTM) and set up the license server for my 10-CAL licenses. That's ok.

But I can not see a way to point my server to see the license server. Every time I log in, I receive a message that the RD services will expire in 119 days.

Using the diagnosis tool it says that licensing mode isn't set up.

Where I can find the tool to set up this licensing mode? In windows server 2008 this question was asked in the setup wizadr.

Thanks a lot!

2008 R2 RDS - IE Security Settings syncing to Staff Profiles

Hello,

I have a member of staff piloting our now RDS server for remote access.

Since he logged on to the server, hes normal desktop PC wont allow him to access the IE correctly.

I have a feeling the RDS security settings have synced to his profile and now cannot access IE on his normal desktop.

Has anyone else had this problem? The user cannot change IE security settings on his profile and I cannot see a GPO enforcing them not to be able to. Weird.

Thanks,

Theo

Poor performance with RemoteApp compared to RDP

We have an application that has very poor performance and freezing when using RemoteApp's.  When the application is run through RDP (full desktop or single app) the performance is great.  We are also using a program to publish the application (2X). When the application is published as a single app, the performance is poor and freezing issues occur.  If we publish a full desktop using 2X, the application performs as normal.

It seems the application only performs poorly when it's not contained in a re-sizable window.  At anytime there is a re-sizable window around the application, it performs perfect.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?  The application works great through RDP but we need a different solution.

Server 2012 R2, unable to change DPI on remote desktop connection

$

Hello,

We have a new 2012 R2 RD deployment, and one of the things we seem to be unable to do, is change the sessions DPI settings when using a remote desktop connection.

With 2008 R2, a hotfix was made available that allowed us to do this. In 2012 R2, my understanding is that when using an RDP 8.1 enabled client, the remote session will match your local clients DPI settings. If using an older RDP client, you should be able to change the DPI manually.

As it stands, I don't seem to be able to manually change the DPI, regardless of the client I am using.

The desktop experience pack is installed, so I am not sure if there is anything else that I need to do to enable this functionality?

Thanks

Windows Server 2012 - Powershell script to "allow new connections" for all servers in collection

Hi Guys

I have a request. When doing maintenance on a Remote Desktop Session Host farm, we sometimes change the "Allow New Connection" from true to false.

The issue is, that we have experienced that this value is accidential not changed back to true by the technician when maintenance is finished. This is resulting in next morning, alle users are not loggin in to all servers.

I want to run a Powershell script every night, that changes this value to true. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any cmdlets, that can help me with this. Is that correct? If not, could you help me here?

Best regards,

Mr. Thomas

RD session host does not display the same collections as on the broker

Hi all,

I have a very Basic Setup for my VDI, using a Connection Broker on one host and several collections of RD Session Hosts.

Now I added the RD Session Hosts to some of my RD session hosts, initially it worked well so I can see/manage the RD sessions/collections on my RD session host also.

After a while some of the collections / session hosts are starting to get removed from the RD session hosts Display, while I can still find the appropriate collections / session hosts on my Connection Broker.

Example:

Collection_1 has sessionhost1, sessionhost2, sessionhost3, sessionhost4

After some  time, 2 hours, Collection_1 on the Connection Broker still showed sessionhost1, sessionhost2, sessionhost3, while  sessionhost4 is missing on sessionhost1, and some time later also on sessionhost2. After a while sessionhost4 is missing on all session hosts, and on sessionhost4 also the collection is not shown anymore.

After some  additional time the next session host is removed from the next session host. On the Connection Broker there is still a proper configuration shown.

As I understood the information shown in the Server Manager is received from the Connection Broker I assumed there can be no difference in my Server Manager Display for different hosts.

Can you please give me a hint how to troubleshoot that? Where to start?

Regards,

Martin

Cloning Windows Terminal Server VM multiple times ?

Hi,

I got one Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard that is already configured as Terminal Server (RDSH) it only contains Microsoft Office 2010 Professional SP2. I have joined this host to the AD domain and it can communicate to the licensing server as well.

Note: I’m running VMware vSphere as the hypervisor.

I need to deploy around 45 more terminal servers VM and wondering if I can just clone the fully configured VM above and then change the IP address and server name manually (rename the server and then re-join the domain). Would that be possible or is there any caveats that I need to know before doing this way?

Thanks.

What i have done is repairing the Indexingservice (Uninstall/Reinstall/Registry Cleanup) and now it seems that the indexing Service is working. But not reliable. Also my colleague has the same issue on another RDS Server.

Same System (Win 2008 R2 with Office 2010 Pro Plus Fully Patched!) . I have also fully uninstalled Office 2010 and reinstalled it. I have used the German Version of Office 2010 32-Bit with english language.

Cause of the Internet News, i have also uninstalled the KB3006137 Patch. No luck at all.

We seriously Need help... We are unable to find a solution......

Thanks for any Little help on this Case(s)...

Best, Fab
