My Connection Broker in HA - Keeps redirecting users to removed servers. (the following is after a session host is removed)
Anyone know why?
I see errors in SQL (Error table):
In SessionBroker (eventlog):
Failed to retrieve server status, Desktop XXXXXXXov.local, Collection Demo_UPD, error code 0x80070064

I have the following scenario:
Firewall
WebAccess (Internet/intranet) - WA.internal.net
Internal
Gateway - GW.internal.net
Connection Broker - CB.internal.net
Session Host - SH.internal.net
All the internal.net 2012 servers are on the AD Domain internal.net and have a *.internal.net certificate installed.
We would like all the users to go to WebAccess (WA) to logon to access resources on the SH.
We have configured Split-Brain DNS so outside users and inside users can access the URL held on the WA which is www.external.com
We purchased a certificate for www.external.com
I have applied this certificate to the server WA and GW. Via the: Deployment Properties - Certificates.
On logon I get two errors:
Internal logon: Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the remote desktop gateway server address requested and the certificate subject name do not match.
Web logon:
A website is trying to run a RemoteApp Program... Publisher *.internal.net
Remote computer: CB.internal.net
Gateway Server: GW.internal.net
Click connect:
Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the remote desktop gateway server is temporarily unavailable. Try reconnecting later or contact your network administrator for assistance.
I guess this is a problem with the www.external.com certificate?
Having read a little more it should be a wild card?
How could a *.external.com work on a domain internal.net?
What do I need to do to get this to work using single Sign on?

I have VM with Windows Server 2016 and AMD Radeon R7 240 (ESXi 6.0 host)
I can run Vulcan demo and OpenCL demo, but cannot run OpenGL demo:
Does anybody have any ideas for the commands to use automatically with PowerShell that will automatically log off users at a certain time if they belong to a certain Active Directory user group.
e.g. a scheduled task at 7pm every day that logs off every USER connected to a VIRTUAL DESKTOP who belongs to the ACTIVE DIRECTORY group called 'SECRETARIES'.
If anyone can point me to the PowerShell scripts I'd need to use to find the users connected to the individual VMs....and then query Active Directory with that user's name to find which AD groups they are in then I can put it together.

I'm receiving the following pop up when Remote Desktop connections to Server 2012 Standard machines.
Application popup: Idle timer expired : Session has been idle over its time limit.
Logoff will start in 2 minutes.
There are no policies set either by GPO or Local Policies that I can find that is causing this. Has anyone encountered this issue.
No RDP services are installed on these servers. RDP from Windows 10 workstations to Server 2012.
I am investigating moving one of my larger clients to the Amazon Web Services Cloud. I have set up a Windows 2016 Server instance (virtual server, I think) that I would like to use as an "Application Server". There will be about 20 users that need to "RDP" (or whatever the new terminology is) to run a desktop application.
I have been assured that I will need 20 Remote Desktop Cals. Amazon does not provide these or set them up. I have been reading the Microsoft documentation (I am not a server administrator), and I am totally confused. Partly because most of the documentation refers to Windows 2008 or 2012 servers.
AWS Tech support has not been at all helpful on this issue. If you can help in any way I will be grateful.

I am trying to convert the Device CAL to User CAL in RD License Manager in Windows 2012 r2 and getting an error 0x3192.
This conversion is definitely possible as I have done one license before .When I do additional conversion it give the error.
Any help to fix this ?
My host system is Win10 Pro x64, and my target system is Win10 Enterprise N x86 in a Hyper-V gen 1 VM. I have enabled the various group policy settings to enable RemoteFX on both the host and client, and in the Local Devices and Resources dialog I see "Other supported RemoteFX USB Devices", and I select a few of them but they do not appear in the target VM nor does the little computer icon show up on the connection bar. Also, if I use Device Manager on the host to look at the driver stack for the devices I'm trying to remote to the target, I don't see an TS filter drivers loaded. On the target, I have enabled "Allow RDP redirection of other supported RemoteFX USB devices from this computer"
In the RemoteDesktopServices-RdpCoreTS log there are some event 226, 227 and 228 (and lots of information events), but nothing seems directly related to surfacing devices via RemoteFX
What am I missing? How do I troubleshoot this crap?

I having big trouble with our IT system
I have only one server with Windows Server 2012 with AD and 100 client pc.
Our policy applied to all members that they must change their passwords in each 60 days. But now our user possible to change their password by themselves.
On screen show "there are currently logon servers available to service the logon request"
I checked DNS server, DHCP server (with MAC filtering), GPO, AD, DC ... I cannot found any problem.
This my action I did
+ I also hit disjoint a client on AD and rejoin to AD and try to change user passwords, still cannot change passwords.
+ Create new ID, login with new ID: can login with new ID. But still cannot change passwords.
Can you teach me how to resolving our problem ?

I want to hide external hard disk drives connected on win 2008 r2 server through USB on the rdp session of Limited user (non-administrator). When a administrator logs on to the server through he should see all the drives (Removable Hdds and Pendrives) and could access them. When a limited user logs through he should see the internal drives of the server (as he has rights). Please note that a external Hdd gets different drive letters when connected at different conditions.
I am not a expert person so please be lenient and tolerant while answering.

I am trying to Retrieves a list of personal virtual desktops and associated user accounts using PS command, Export-RDPersonalVirtualDesktopAssignment -CollectionName "XYZ" -Path "c:\temp\XYZ.csv"
Now using this command I can only get the result from a specific collection, Please suggest what to do if I need to get the result from multiple collection's.

I have recently setup a new 2012R2 box and installed RDS to use RemoteApp
This is a single server for a single application.
In my collection I have added the application and I also Added Calc as a test application.
When I goto the RDWeb site I see both applications.
Clicking on Calc works
Clicking on the 3rd party application, an RDP session opens, I can see my session logging in, then it pauses for a couple of seconds and the session closes.
If I open this application in an RDP session to the server it works OK.
I have looked in the Event log on the Server and Client and can see nothing obvious in either as to what is causing the session to end
In the Server event log:
User USERNAME will be logged on to the local redirector machine (assuming TS Farm scenario). Sending local IP address to the client in the redirection packet.
Begin session arbitration:
User: USERNAME
Session ID: 4
Session 4 has been disconnected, reason code 0
End session arbitration:
User: USERNAME
Session ID: 4
This connection request has resulted in a successful session logon (User successfully logged on to the end point). Remote Desktop Connection Broker will stop monitoring this connection request.
Hello everyone!
I'm searching for help or advice in my situation. We have multiple RDS servers based on Windows Server 2012R2 with smart-card authentication. Sometimes users start experiencing problems with logon on this servers with following conditions - While using smart-card authentication, logon process hangs on welcome screen, there are multiple unnamed sessions in task manager with four basic processes and service "Certificate Propagation" don't start with warning which says that "service will not start because there aren't any processes that use this service" or something like that. In the same time, I can logon to this RDS server using standard login/password authentication with no problem. Users which is already login to the server with smart-cards continue their tasks on the server with no any problem too. I can not close this unnamed sessions using all known by me tools and problem is solved only by reboot.
Please, can anyone help to find out where is problem and how to solve it?

I have set up a standard 3 node 2012 R2 RDS for testing. All virtualized on VMware ESXi 5.0. I have a connection Broker, session host, and web access server. I have published several applications and I can access them without a problem. Here is my issue:
When I try to log on to my session host server either locally or thru RDP, I am always logged in with a Temporary profile. It does not mater what user account I use. Even logging on locally as the administrator I get a temporary profile.
All windows updates are installed and current.
I have removed the server from the domain, deleted the account, and rejoined it to the domain.
I have deleted all .bak registry entries from here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
There is a hotfix here for a similar issue on 2012 but it does not apply to 2012 R2
The only event viewer errors are:
1515 (Windows has backed up this user profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backup profile the next time this user logs on.)
1511 (Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.)
Any suggestions to resolve would be greatly appreciated.

i have problems with printer mapping from Linux thinclients, our Windows Clients work fine. Our farm looks as follows
loadbalancer -> 2x rdproker -> 4x session host
Clients connect to the loadbalancer vip which redirects to one of the rdpbrokers and then the clients get the rdp redirect to one of the sessions Hosts.
All Servers Running Windows Server 2012 R2 with November Preview Rollup.
We have the option "Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first" active (not disabled!), we want to use this Driver first for all supported Printers
Our Session Hosts have the following print drivers installed
We let our thinclients connect with printer redirecting and use the print driver name "Canon Generic PCL6 Driver"...the Clients seem to do what we expect but our session Hosts get the 1111 Event id
Now while the "Canon Generic PCL6 Driver" name matches with the Name in the driver list we dont know why we get this message? This makes no sense for us...we know we cant use easy print for our Linux Clients but the drivername we use matches perfectly
with the installed one but the Server still doesnt use it.
Does anyone know why this happens?
We also tried to use "MS Publisher Imagesetter" as driver name, same result (Eventid 1111 with MS Publisher Imagesetter is not installed)
We tried to use printer mapping file and driver name CanonSW
;NTPRINTSUBS.INF
;Printer mapping file for client-side to server-side drivers

"CanonSW" = "Canon Generic PCL6 Driver"
The needed reg settings are done and the printspooler is restartet
EventID 1111 tells us driver CanonSW isnt installed.

I have to activate RD CAL on 2008 R2 OS but Microsoft no longer sells RD CAL for this OS. So I have procured RD CAL for 2012 R2.
But this license cannot be used on 2008 R2. How can I procure and activate the RD CAL for 2008 R2?
It's a 2012R2 server with win7 pooled virtual desktops. Disk usage of these desktops is somewhy high. They'd used all space at the volume and lost profile disks. After reboot and incrising that volume i've found that the vms where not rebooted but "saved". Users even said there were no reboot. After relogin they managed to work again except one.
I've restarted his vm in collection manualy but server manager still shows the session of this user. I can't disconnect it getting erros "Unable to disconnect session 147 on host.domain. WTS API failed". PS commands return errors too. Can i disconnect this session somehow or reboot of the server is the only option?
